Election Results 2005
2005 General Election
On 5th May 2005, Tim
Cross stood as our parliamentary candidate for UKIP in Worthing West, winning
2374 votes. The full results were as follows:
| Peter Bottomley (Conservative) | 21383 |
| Claire Potter (Liberal Demacrat) | 12004 |
| Anthony Bignall (Labour) | 8630 |
| Tim Cross (UK Independence Party) | 2374 |
| Chris Balwin (Legalise Cannibis Alliance) | 550 |
Our figure of 2374 compares to 1960 votes in 2001, and for the first time in Worthing West we have retained our deposit, as we won more than 5% of the total votes cast. Although this is no major breakthrough, the increase shows were gaining a steady increase in support locally, which we need to build upon in the coming months and years as we approach and fight forthcoming elections.
